Episode 8: FALLING ON THE HOMESTEAD

Fall has arrived on our North Idaho homestead, and there’s plenty of work to do before winter sets in! In this video, “Falling on the Homestead,” we continue our barnominium renovation, tackle a major entryway remodel with some family disagreements along the way, and prepare our land for the cold months ahead. Justin gets into the muck to fertilize and mulch our gardens and orchard, ensuring they’re ready for winter.

We take an epic homeschool field trip to the stunning Hobo Grove Botanical Cedar Grove, just 15 miles away—an absolute hidden gem! Fall also brings a bounty of mushrooms to our property, so we take the kids mushroom foraging and learn how to safely identify and harvest wild mushrooms. With our haul, we create a delicious, healthy, vegetarian meal with homemade mushroom fettuccini, sourdough bread, a garden-fresh Caesar salad, and a mouthwatering mushroom ceviche.
