Granger Smith: The Real Reasons He Left Country Music Fame for Jesus

Country music star Granger Smith walked away from fame and touring to pursue ministry — but now he’s revealing something even more startling about his faith journey: despite calling himself a Christian for years, Smith says he doesn’t consider his true conversion to have happened until 2020.

In this powerful conversation with Billy Hallowell and Dalton Harper, Granger opens up about leaving country music, losing his son, finding authentic faith in Jesus, and the “toxic beliefs” that kept him from truly following Christ.

Smith also tackles uncomfortable questions about nominal Christianity, being comfortable with sin, why Christians need the local church, reading the Bible, prayer, conviction, suffering, and how to know whether your faith is actually transforming your life.

Plus, Granger discusses his new book, “Poison in the Well: 11 Toxic Beliefs That Kept Me From the Living Water of Jesus,” and explains why he hopes it forces Christians to take an honest look at their own lives.

Is it possible to believe in Jesus, call yourself a Christian — and still be missing something fundamental? This conversation gets incredibly real.
